Benchmarking and Process Confirmation

Learner to World Class Benchmarking

Companies on the ASCE Programme are benchmarked against 11 key foundation processes, detailed in the NWAA 5 Step Learner to World Class Model, to establish their current position.

A team of trained assessors carry out a 1 day assessment of the company, gathering data from a cross section of employees from all areas of the business. This establishes a full picture of the current position and highlights areas of strength and areas for improvement.

The findings are detailed in a report, which is presented back at the Benchmarking Feedback session.

Foundation Processes:

·         Leadership

·         Strategic Business Planning

·         Project and Risk Management

·         Lean

·         Make vs. Buy

·         Skills Development and Planning

·         E-Business Skills

·         Innovation Management

·         Collaboration

·         Infrastructure and Facilities Management

·         Sales and Operations Planning

"The benchmarking process identified that if Aerogistics is to accelerate its rapid growth and establish new global facilities then it must strengthen the senior management team and develop robust leadership and project management skills throughout the business. The process has brought route-cause clarity to some of our primary issues."
Tom Dawes, Managing Director - Aerogistics Holdings Ltd

"The benchmarking process has clearly identified the steps we need to take to become ‘world class’ and we are looking forward to this challenge. We can clearly see that effective collaboration within clearly defined ‘clusters’ of complimentary companies is the way forward in the future and we are actively pursuing this strategy.  Our near term goals are focused on Project and Risk Management, Strategic Business Planning and we envisage improving our Make vs. Buy decision making later in the year. Kilgour is the company to watch as the benchmark for the rapid adoption of ACSE principles!"
Ray Kilgour, Group Managing Director - Kilgour Aerospace Specialists

"The NWAA Learner to World Class benchmarking provided us with baseline measures in business critical processes which we utilised in the construction of both staff and company development plans. This enabled us to align our people development with the needs of the supply chain in which our company operates."
Kevan McAvoy, Value Stream Leader & 6 Sigma Master Blackbelt - Sigmatex

"The benchmarking exercise, carried out by ex industry professionals, gave an honest balanced view of where we were placed on a quantifiable scale between learner to world class. Whilst pleased with our companies’ continuous development in recent years, our warts ‘n’ all exposure highlighted specific areas for improvement. This now allows us to focus our efforts to ensure our investment of money as well as management time, helps retain and improve our competitive advantage, and aids our goal of being both supplier of choice to our customers and employer of choice in a scarce resource market.”
