The next NWAA members forum is not to be missed!
The forum will take place at the brand new cutting edge Factory 2050 Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at Rotherham, and will include a tour of the new Factory 2050 and wider AMRC site.
This event will feature keynote presentations from industry experts on Lean Industry 4.0, Advances in Automated Machining and Robotic Countersinking.
Dr David Bailey, Chief Executive of NWAA will open the Spring Members Forum.
Ben Morgan, Head of the Integrated Manufacturing Group at the AMRC will present on:
“The AMRC Factory 2050: Can you Google Manufacturing?” Ben’s presentation will cover;
- What are the AMRC doing in the Factory 2050?
- What is the need and how is it relevant to industry?
- How can the consumer market drive manufacturing?
Eugene Smethurst, Director, Process & Automation at AECOM will present on:
“Kaizen – Lessons from the Automotive Industry” - From automated production lines to just in time inventories the automotive industry’s ethos of continuous business improvement has put it at the forefront of efficient, future-focused manufacturing.
Eugene’s presentation will consider;
- How the aerospace industry can look to automotive for lessons in
optimising the manufacturing process.
Prof Sam Turner, Head of Process Technology Group at the AMRC will present on:
“Advances in Automated Machining” Sam’s presentation will cover;
- What will machine shops and machining companies look like after the
fourth industrial revolution
- What are the emergent technologies that enable fully automated
machining processes and rapid process design and configuration?
- Are we moving to a world where manufacturing engineers and operators
make processes rather than parts?”
Austin Cook, Specialist Development Engineer, BAE Systems will present on:
“Trends in Aircraft Manufacturing for Military Aircraft”
The event will close with a Q & A session, followed by a networking lunch and a tour of the 2050 Factory.
This event will give NWAA members the opportunity to visit this brand new facility and experience first-hand the state of the art technology that will be used in research programmes designed to revolutionise UK manufacturing.
