UK Aerospace Industrial Strategy – The Impacts of Productivity, Competitiveness and Brexit.
Since our last NWAA supply chain workshop we have all seen a significant change in UK politics. The people of Britain have voted to exit from the European Union, we have a new Prime Minister and a new Cabinet. Her Majesty’s Government is working to understand what the UK wants from a negotiation of the relationship with the European Union. At the same time industry leaders such as Sir Charlie Mayfield (Chairman, John Lewis Partnership) and Nigel Whitehead (Group Managing Director, BAE Systems) are highlighting the UK’s productivity and competitiveness gaps.
The next NWAA Supply Chain Workshop is an opportunity for Members to come together and hear the views of two of the UK’s leading thinkers on these matters; James McMicking the Chief Strategy Officer of the Aerospace Technology Institute and Katherine Bennett, Vice President Public Affairs, AIRBUS. Both James and Katherine are engaged in the development of UK Aerospace Industrial Strategy at the highest level and their insight will help us to consider what the changing environment means for the North West of England.
Of course, we also want to hear your views on what you think our sector should be doing to address the productivity and competitiveness gap and what you think the UK Government needs to negotiate with the European Union. We want to hear your views on how we improve aerospace businesses in the region, how we improve skills and technology, and particularly important at this precise time – how we improve trade.
We hope you will join us for what is sure to be the most interesting of supply chain workshops in conjunction with AIRBUS and the Aerospace Technology Institute.
Look forward to seeing you there.
