Spotlight on Leonardo Helicopters: Future Concepts for VTOL Unmanned Systems
In an exciting development, Leonardo Helicopters is seeking Supply Chain [involvement] to help develop concepts for VTOL Unmanned Air Systems.
Building upon the success of the Phase 1 Rotary Wing Unmanned Air System, Capability Concept Demonstrator (RWUAS CCD) programme, Leonardo Helicopters is now tasked with follow-on work to identify, develop and exploit the opportunities offered by cross-sector emerging technologies. The output of this follow-on programme is intended to produce technology shifts within the VTOL UAS environment which will lead to the development of future advanced air systems for use in civil and military applications.
Therefore, on the 30th March 2017, and as part of the WEAF Spotlight series of events, Leonardo Helicopters wishes to engage with the advanced engineering supply chain and academic community to better understand the level and range of R&D that is taking place in VTOL and/or UAS related technology areas, and which will need to be exploited in order for the full benefits of future new Unmanned Air Systems to be realised.
