Why Wuhan?
Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province in central China with a population of 10 million. The GDP growth in Wuhan in the first half of 2014 was 12%, exceeding China’s national growth rate of 7.4%. The scale of the city’s economy is comparable to that of Hungary. The city’s economic strengths include everything from optic-electronic, automobile/machinery, iron and steel, environmental technology, healthcare, culture and sports, to new materials and education. Wuhan is a pilot city in the UK China smart cities project.

This mission will help SMEs to identify smart green cities opportunities in Wuhan through meetings and site visits. Opportunities exist in solutions across sustainable regeneration, low carbon, green design & technology, knowledge and education, smart technology, healthcare, creative & digital, infrastructures and city based integrated operations systems, and other related sectors.
