Velocity Composites appoints Darren Ingram as Managing Director
Darren Ingram has joined Lancashire based Velocity Composites Limited this month, as the company’s first managing director.
Mr Ingram left a post at KAMAN Composites to take up the new role with Velocity Composites, market leaders in aerospace composite kitting solutions.
Darren brings over 24 years’ experience in the aerospace and automotive industry. Having worked for the likes of Safran Aircelle, GE Aviation and Smiths Aerospace, with responsibility for large teams and multi million pound budgets, he has built up a skills set that makes him the ideal appointment to the growing supply chain company.
As Managing Director, Mr Ingram, aged 44, will lead Velocity through a period of expansion, overseeing the day-to-day management of the business. He brings with him a proven track record of managing international supply chains with a clear focus on delivering results.
Darren Ingram said:
“With the challenges that lie ahead for aerospace businesses, it’s a very exciting time to join a company that’s experiencing rapid growth and that has a unique place in the market.
“The composites industry has only just scratched the surface of what it can achieve within aerospace – a real explosion is getting ready to happen. Velocity Composites has recognised the opportunities available to it and is positioning itself as a global market leader. I’m delighted to be on board and to have a key role to play in the business’s future development.”
Mr Ingram’s appointment is a key part of Velocity Composites’ expansion plans. The creation of the new managing director post signals a significant growth in Velocity Composites and will allow the company’s three directors – Chris Banks, Gerry Johnson and Jon Bridges – to focus on Velocity Composites’ business strategy, customer relationships and growth.
The company, which this summer achieved supplier approval from Airbus and Agusta Westland, is currently expanding its operations to include a facility in Southampton to service its growing customer base in the south of the UK.
Gerry Johnson, Velocity Composites Director, said:
“Over the next few years the global aerospace composites industry is forecast to grow significantly and as such our customers are facing significant rate increases on both new and existing platforms. It’s vital that we maintain our market leadership and we’re focused on meeting the expectations of our existing and new customer base.
“Having Darren on board will help us to make the transition from a national, single site company to an international business with multiple sites. We’re look forward to working with Darren as we enter the next stage in Velocity Composites’ evolution.”
