Best of Wales aerospace heads to MRO Europe
Six companies from Wales will be showcasing some of the best that Welsh aerospace industry has to offer at MRO Europe this October – the largest event of its kind outside of north America.
20% of the UK’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) business takes place in Wales. MRO Europe, which this year takes place at RAI Amsterdam from 18-20 October, is the annual highlight for the commercial air transport MRO industry and is the place to forge new partnerships.
As a direct result of participating in the event in 2015, Welsh businesses in attendance scooped a collective £2.8million of deals. Attended by the likes of Airbus, Boeing, BA and Bombardier, last year the trade conference received over 6400 visitors to the event – the largest in its history.
For the fifth consecutive year, leading names from the Welsh aviation and aerospace industry will come together to exhibit the nation’s expertise in the field and as a place to do business.
Mike Corne, Commercial Director of eCube Solutions, will be joining the Welsh delegation. He said: “MRO Europe has been the must-do event for eCube Solutions since our operations commenced in 2012. It brings together virtually all the sector’s customers and suppliers in a single location.
“eCube was launched in South Wales after we reviewed all potential options throughout the UK and Ireland. We concluded that the high quality infrastructure and local aerospace resources, combined with excellent operating economics at St Athan, added up to an unbeatable reason for starting our business.
"We are now firmly established as one of Europe’s leading players in the aircraft end-of-life sector and have also expanded the scope of our business into other activities such as aircraft parking, storage and third party logistics. We did so with the confidence that South Wales is the optimum location for delivering services to the aviation industry.”
Steve Edmunds, Managing Director of Cottam and Brooks Engineering, also attending said: “Maintenance Repair Organisations are very important to Wales. MRO are to aircraft fuselage and engines basically what garages are to cars.
“We've had tremendous support and assistance from the Welsh Government team. We wouldn't be going to MRO Europe if it wasn't for them. The stand has gradually got larger over the last couple of years, makes a massive impact and shows how committed the Welsh Government is to Aerospace Wales. Our customers and competitors are bowled over by it and hopefully us. MRO Europe is the main exhibition for our European MRO customers and also attracts a lot of our other customers from all over the world.
The Welsh companies exhibiting at MRO Europe are: Wall Colmonoy, Spectrum Technologies, PPA Ltd, Ecube Solutions, Air Covers, Cottam & Brookes and Wales Aerospace Forum as co-organisers.
