Skipton based industrial finishing equipment manufacturer Guyson International, made initial contact with the University of Bradford during last year’s TCT + Personalize show, held at the NEC, which Guyson and University of Bradford regularly attends. Mr Mark Viner, Guyson’s Blast & Wash divisions Managing Director, visited the University's show stand, and subsequent arrangements were made for further visits to the Polymer MNT laboratories at Bradford. During these visits common research interests were established and Guyson agreed to produce and donate a bespoke blast cabinet for the group.
Guyson’s donated Euroblast® 6SF AM (Additive Manufacturing) blast cabinet, complete with additional pencil blaster, is a highly flexible blast cabinet with wide ranging parts loading options with front, side and top opening doors. The large armholes give a comfortable reach inside the cabinet for the operator and full width foot pedal allows operation of the blast gun with either foot. The pencil blast is a very useful addition and can be used for cleaning intricate microinjection moulds or finishing 3D printed products; the latter of which this particular blast system has been especially devised for.
The blast cabinet is complemented with a new mid-range C600-AM dust collector which has been designed to accompany the Euroblast ‘AM’ blast cabinet range and has a host of features and options to manage any potential risks when processing Stainless, Aluminium, Titanium or Inconel components, commonly used in the aerospace, automotive and medical AM sectors, including; explosion relief valve, explosion isolation valve, secondary HEPA filtration, waste bin balance pipe and level sensor minimising dust in the open atmosphere.
Mark Viner, who is a Bradford University alumnus and Bradford Chamber of Commerce Leadership Group member, explains that “the additive manufacturing sector is a key market for us here at Guyson and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial technical collaboration with Bradford University on many projects related to this sector and the donation of this Guyson blast system is just the start of this arrangement”.
