Chairman and Technical Director of MSP, Peter Hammond will be speaking at the NWAA Annual Conference on 16th May. MSP are also pleased to be Platinum sponsors of the event which is centred around ‘North West Aerospace & Defence - Preparing for a New Era’.
Peter Hammond has over 35 years experience within the field of measurement and metrology. A named inventor on five patent products and Technical Fellow of the AMRC (Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre), Peter is recognised as a leading expert in manufacturing processes.
Together with co-founder Tony Brown, Peter established MSP with a vision to identify errors and eliminate them at the source rather than the end of the production cycle. Working alongside manufacturers within various industries, Peter and Tony developed an automated way to achieve process accuracy, offering significant financial and time benefits by simplifying part set-up. MSP has worked (directly) within the aerospace industry for over 16 years and improved the processes of many major companies worldwide, including BAE Systems, for whom it saved £21 million over the lifetime of the F-35 programme. MSP’s work for the company has been recognised by one Gold and two Bronze BAE Systems Chairman’s awards.
In his presentation, Peter will look at the latest trends within the industry and explain how aerospace manufacturers can increase productivity and part quality by using their existing equipment more efficiently whilst removing errors from their production processes.
Ahead of the event, he comments: “I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to speak at the conference about the future of the aerospace industry. This year’s focus on preparing for a new era could not be more timely and I look forward to providing an insight into how companies can innovate to stay ahead in these uncertain times. This event also promises to be a great opportunity to meet other members and discuss how we can work together to improve the industry. The sector is always advancing and I look forward to what’s next”.
