Government Launches New Coronavirus Business Support Finder Tool

Last week the government launched a new ‘support finder’ tool to help businesses and self-employed people across the UK to quickly and easily determine what financial support is available to them during the coronavirus pandemic.

Exporters and the CBILS and CLBILS Support Schemes

Some exporters were being excluded from the Government’s Coronavirus Loans Scheme (CBILS) as their activities were not counted as “UK based business activity”. New guidance for the schemes has now been issued by the British Business Bank that make it clear that “Export businesses are in principle eligible and welcome into the scheme” and that exporting is “a UK trading activity even if the company’s income comes wholly or mainly from exporting”.

Expansion of Coronavirus Large Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CLBILS)

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, recently announced that the CLBILS has been expanded to include businesses with over £500 million in turnover. As such, all viable businesses with turnover of more than £45 million will be able to apply.

New 100% Government Backed Loan Scheme for Small Businesses

The new Bounce Back Loans scheme, will allow businesses to borrow between £2,000 and £50,000 and access the cash within days. Loans will be interest free for the first 12 months, and from Monday 4 May, businesses can apply online through a short and simple form.
