Leaving The EU

Page updated 9th September 2020

ADS has just relaunched its online Brexit Hub with updated information and resources to help companies across our sectors prepare for the end of the Transition Period. This can be accessed here.

The UK left the EU on 31st January 2020 and we are now in the transition period, where the UK is treated similarly to EU members with no substantive changes, until 1st January 2021.

Negotiations on the future relationship are set to continue until October 2020 with limited progress made thus far. The UK Government has set a deadline of 15th October for the UK and EU to come to an agreement. If there is no agreement by this date, a non-negotiated outcome will follow come 1st January 2021. ADS has prepared a risk register highlighting the key issues that need to be resolved, what has been resolved, signposting relevant detail and guidance.

There are actions companies should take now to prepare for a non-negotiated outcome (a ‘no deal’). ADS has organised these by theme, which are summarised on this hub. Useful links to detailed guidance and relevant processes can be found throughout.

The UK is also negotiating trade agreements with other countries such as Japan, USA, Australia and more. This hub also contains information about these agreements, and we will provide updates on how they might impact our sectors as details emerge.
