On Tuesday 24th November, NWAA ran its first Virtual Supply Chain Workshop: 'Civil Aerospace and Defence Sectors – Weathering the Storm of Covid-19'.
The workshop provided the most current insight into how the Covid-19 pandemic is impacting the Civil Aerospace and Defence Sectors, with a particular focus on the Military Air Sector.
During the workshop Dr David Bailey FRAeS, from Aerospace Consulting presented on how the aerospace industry is coping with increasing uncertainty and Paul Burns, International Programmes Director from BAE Systems gave a great presentation on how defence spending remains robust and is helping to support many companies in the commercial aerospace supply chains.
The workshop highlighted the opportunities for NWAA members to diversify into defence and other sectors, and how companies can develop a more balanced portfolio.
NWAA would like to thank Dr David Bailey FRAeS and Paul Burns for giving such insightful presentations promoting much discussion both during the workshop and in the break-out rooms.
NWAA were pleased to be able to offer this to its members during a time when physical events aren’t possible. The feedback we have received from participants has been very positive and members welcomed the opportunity to join the facilitated workshops in the break out rooms and network within their groups. Dr David Bailey roamed ‘virtually’ around each of the break out rooms giving encouragement and advice in the facilitated sessions.
NWAA will be looking to run further virtual supply chain workshops and look towards offering increased virtual networking opportunities to the membership in 2021. As ever, thank you to all delegates and facilitators who took part and made it a great workshop ! NWAA welcome your feedback and comments to make sure the next one is even bigger and better. We very much look forward to seeing you at the next event.
