Irene Short Award

The Irene Short Award 2006 judging is now complete and a winner has been identified, the prizes will be awarded at the NWAA's first "Youth Awards Evening" to be held on November 6th 2006. This is awarded to the best First Year Craft Apprentice employed in a North West Aerospace or Defence Company.

The NWAA is keen to make more companies and their apprentices aware of this award to encourage a large number of good quality submissions in the future.

The candidates are judged on their first year performance, with each apprentice submitting at least two ‘test’ pieces for scrutiny. These test pieces also form the basis of their interview questions. Their own planning sheets and drawings must be available along with the test pieces for judging. The winner receives the prestigious Irene Short Trophy, a model of a jet engine provided by Rolls-Royce plc.
