Sir Frank Whittle Award
2006 marks the 7th annual Sir Frank Whittle Award that is organised by the North West Aerospace Alliance and sponsored by Rolls Royce plc. The submissions have now been judged and a winner selected. The prizes will be awarded at the NWAA's first "Youth Awards Evening" to be held on the 6th November 2006.
It is awarded for the engineering student whose project which rated highest against the criteria of innovation, relation to industry need, potential for commercial application and engineering excellence (includes mechanical, electrical, electronic, , materials science, mechatronic and manufacturing disciplines). The aerospace context could include aspects of the following; Design, Systems, Manufacture,Simulation, Operations,Maintenance, Business excellence e.g. lean manufacture and Environmental.
The Winner of The Sir Frank Whittle Award will receive the prestigious Sir Frank Whittle Trophy and a cash prize of £1,000.
