The NWAA New Talent Awards recognise and reward the achievements made by young people working and studying in aerospace and defence within the North West.

In 2013 we launched a new category for the awards, the Business University Challenge.  Due to its continued success it is now a stalwart part of the Awards.  This year’s challenge will be running again in 2016/17 and is being held at Preston’s College on Wednesday 25th January 2017.

If you are either a North West company within the Aerospace and Defence Supply Chain, or a North West University or College with students where at least one member is studying an aerospace related course this Challenge is for you.

Entries will be opening the 9th of November for teams of three who wish to test their skills against fellow North West companies, universities and colleges. Teams will be allocated a place on a first come first serve basis. As the challenge is part of our New Talent Awards, which recognise the emerging young talent within the industry, each average team age must NOT exceed 22 years of age on the date of the challenge.

There will be up to 12 teams competing on the day and there has been an allocation for teams based on the following:

Companies with 500+ employees

Companies with under 500 employees

University teams

College teams

The teams of three will go head to head on a series of mini challenges which will test their:

• Innovation

• Problem solving

• Communication

• Business Acumen

• Presentation skills

• Team work, Planning and Management

The top 3 teams will be announced on the day and invited to our 2016 NWAA New Talent Awards evening (Thursday 2nd March 2017) where the winning team will be announced and presented with a cash prize of £1,500 and trophy.

During the challenge day, we will also be looking for individual team members displaying professional excellence. These prizes will be awarded on the day of the challenge and will be invited to attend the NWAA New Talent Awards evening and will be presented with a £200 cheque and trophy.

Entries can be submitted until Friday 2nd December 2016,

Full guidelines and entry details are available to the view to the right of this page.

* Entry fee £150. Teams allocated a place will be notified by the end of the following week. Teams not securing a place in the first instance will be placed on a reserve list and allocated a place should one become available.
