KYOCERA Celebrates Major Investment in European Manufacturing with Official Opening of New Headquarters


KYOCERA SGS Precision Tools Europe has officially celebrated the opening of its new European Headquarters in Fradley, Staffordshire, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued investment in advanced manufacturing and engineering excellence. The 6.5 acre site brings together KYOCERA SGS and KYOCERA Unimerco under one roof for the first time, creating KYOCERA’s largest cutting tool operation in Europe and strengthening the Group’s manufacturing, logistics, technical support and customer collaboration capabilities across the UK and Europe.

The official opening ceremony welcomed customers, manufacturing partners, distributors, educational institutions, government representatives and international leaders from across the KYOCERA Group to celebrate the completion of the strategic relocation from Wokingham to Fradley. Guests were welcomed by Hugh Welch, Managing Director of KYOCERA SGS Precision Tools Europe, who reflected on the company’s journey to its new headquarters and thanked employees, partners and suppliers whose commitment had made the relocation possible.

In his welcome address, Hugh commented:

The ceremony was attended by Dave Robertson MP, Member of Parliament for Lichfield, Burntwood and the Villages, together with Tomoaki Hirano, President of KYOCERA SGS, and Henrik Schurmann, President of KYOCERA Unimerco. Speaking at the opening, Dave Robertson MP welcomed the investment into Staffordshire, recognising the positive impact the new headquarters will have on the region’s manufacturing sector and economy.

Speaking during the event, Tomoaki Hirano highlighted the strategic importance of the investment and reaffirmed KYOCERA SGS’s commitment to supporting customers across Europe through continued innovation, technical excellence and manufacturing capability. Henrik Schurmann spoke of the opportunities created through the co-location of KYOCERA SGS and KYOCERA Unimerco, describing the new headquarters as an important step in strengthening collaboration between the two businesses and enhancing the value delivered to customers throughout Europe.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Hugh Welch, Dave Robertson MP, Tomoaki Hirano and Henrik Schurmann, formally marked the opening of the new headquarters and the beginning of a new chapter for KYOCERA’s Precision Tools businesses in Europe. Following the ceremony, guests were invited to explore the new headquarters through hosted tours of the manufacturing and technical facilities, providing an insight into KYOCERA’s latest manufacturing technologies, engineering expertise and customer support capabilities.

The Fradley headquarters represents one of the most significant investments in the history of KYOCERA SGS Precision Tools Europe and reinforces the Group’s long-term confidence in UK manufacturing, engineering innovation and customer partnership.
