European Metal Recycling
EMR: Driving the Future of Sustainable Resource Recovery
EMR is a global leader in social sustainability, delivering comprehensive site audits for material recycling and reuse, with a focus on metal and plastic waste. By expertly segregating materials by grade, EMR maximises reuse and recycling rates while aligning with Scope 1–4 Science-Based Targets (SBTIs) to achieve carbon net zero by 2040. EMR provides transparent carbon metrics across every stage of the project—ensuring accountability and measurable impact. With a network of 60 facilities across the UK, EMR is not only a proud local employer within the North West, but also actively reduces road miles and overall carbon footprint through strategic logistics.
Our Purpose: A Planet Without Extraction
EMR exists to build a future where the materials we use no longer need to be extracted from the Earth. Each year, we recycle over 10 million tonnes of metal and plastic. This process prevents 12 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, the equivalent to preserving over 3.7 million acres of Amazon rainforest. As a company we collaborate globally with industry leaders, government bodies, and the public to transform end-of-life materials including consumer goods, vehicles, and industrial, construction, and demolition waste—into valuable resources. Together, we’re making the circular economy not just a vision, but a reality.
