Event Background & Objectives

This sustainability showcase is focused on briefing the aerospace supply chain in the North West and Wales on Airbus’ commitment to decarbonising the aerospace sector. This is one of a series of events organised by our local trade associations to raise the profile of sustainability topics / actions suppliers can take to decarbonise.

Using Airbus’ operations in Broughton as the backdrop, we will demonstrate how Airbus is charging forward on a path to decarbonisation by transforming our operations and approaches to wing manufacturing in Wales.

This event is also part of Airbus’ AGP (Aerospace Growth Partnership) Commitment to support supply chain development, Paul McKinlay and Oriel Petry sit on the board of the AGP.

Objectives

  • Educate the supply chain across the North West and Wales about Airbus’ commitment and roadmap to sustainable aviation / industrial decarbonisation
  • Promote the importance of key decarbonisation technologies / initiatives that are critical in helping the aerospace to achieve its Net Zero ambitions
  • Share the roadmap for Airbus’ Industrial decarbonisation of manufacturing operations in Broughton
  • Share lessons learned / best practice to the supply chain across Wales and the North West
  • Show thought leadership and stimulate action with the aerospace supply chain to decarbonise
  • To enable supply chain stakeholders to reference Airbus positively in relation to sustainability topics
  • Dispel myths that Airbus / the aerospace sector are greenwashing
