B&F-Andrews-Bains

A B&FC Cybersecurity student has successfully completed one of Europe’s toughest ultra-challenges – Belgium’s iconic 100km Dodentocht (Death March).

Andrews Baines, 17, took on the trek with his father, Mark, and raised an impressive £1,210 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation last month.

The pair completed the gruelling route in 19 hours and 56 minutes and described it as a huge test of physical endurance and mental strength.

As part of their training, father and son are also walking the Wainwrights in the Lake District and have completed 120 of the 214 peaks to date.

Alongside his B&FC studies, Andrew is also a Cadet Flight Sergeant at with Preston Air Cadets and is about to begin a year’s service as one of three young people chosen to accompany the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire on official duties.

Congratulations to Andrew and Mark for completing this epic trek – and for helping an important charity which funds initiatives the NHS cannot afford to make patients’ cancer journeys more effective, comfortable and stress-free.
