Weiss Spindle Services UK Strengthens its Position Supporting Aerospace Manufacturing

Weiss Spindle Services UK (WSS-UK) continues to strengthen its position within the North West aerospace sector, supporting manufacturers with specialist spindle repair, overhaul, new spindle supply, and lifecycle management services that enhance reliability, reduce downtime and extend the life of critical production assets.

Based in Cheadle, Cheshire, WSS-UK is the UK’s only OEM-authorised Weiss spindle repair centre and operates as part of the global Weiss Spindeltechnologie and Innomotics network. This provides UK aerospace manufacturers with direct access to factory-approved processes, genuine OEM components, new Weiss spindle solutions, and the expertise of more than 300 specialist spindle engineers worldwide.

Supporting high-performance aerospace manufacturing

Weiss Spindle Services UK strengthens its position in the sector by delivering a comprehensive range of spindle services designed for high-precision manufacturing environments. These include inspection, repair, overhaul, new spindle supply, and performance testing, all completed in accordance with OEM standards to ensure spindles are returned to service to original, or better, performance levels.

The facility supports both Weiss spindles and a wide range of other leading spindle manufacturers, enabling aerospace businesses to maintain consistent performance across mixed machine tool platforms and to specify new spindle solutions where performance upgrades or replacements are required.

With reliability and uptime critical to aerospace production, WSS-UK also provides preventative maintenance and condition monitoring services to help manufacturers reduce unplanned downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness.

Introducing the Spindle Hotel – Managed storage and readiness

Further strengthening its service offering, Weiss Spindle Services UK has introduced the Spindle Hotel, a managed storage solution designed to support high-availability manufacturing environments.

The Spindle Hotel provides OEM-approved storage conditions for spare and replacement spindles, ensuring they remain in optimal condition and ready for immediate deployment. Units are stored in climate-controlled conditions, correctly orientated and protected against contamination and moisture ingress.

Routine inspection programmes include run-out checks, vibration assessment and documented condition reporting. This approach helps prevent issues commonly associated with long-term storage, ensuring spindles remain fully serviceable when required.

For aerospace manufacturers operating high-value machining centres, the Spindle Hotel strengthens operational resilience by reducing risk, improving asset availability and supporting production continuity.

UK capability backed by global expertise

Operating as the UK’s authorised Weiss service centre, the Cheadle facility works directly with Weiss headquarters in Germany, ensuring access to OEM documentation, specialist tooling and engineering support. This enables both new spindle supply and overhaul activity to be completed in line with factory standards and global best practice.

Supporting the North West aerospace community

As a member of the North West Aerospace Alliance, Weiss Spindle Services UK continues to strengthen its position as a trusted partner to the region’s aerospace manufacturers.

By combining local service capability, OEM-certified spindle supply and global engineering expertise, WSS-UK supports businesses in improving reliability, protecting critical assets and maintaining the high levels of performance demanded across the aerospace sector.
